Who's Behind PHC

Who's Behind PHC

Kathy is a former midwife with a lifelong passion for understanding how early life shapes long-term health. During her years in midwifery, she delivered 152 babies—and it was at birth that her curiosity was sparked. Kathy became fascinated by the variations in newborns’ length, weight, and body composition, and how these physical traits can offer early clues about future health outcomes.

After leaving midwifery, Kathy went on to complete a Master’s degree in Nutritional Medicine. It was during this time that she encountered the pioneering work of the late Professor David Barker, whose research into the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD) had a profound influence on her. This encounter marked a turning point in her career and deepened her commitment to early-life health.

For over a decade, Kathy has worked to translate this powerful science into practical, accessible advice. Her mission is to empower individuals and couples who are planning or considering pregnancy with the knowledge they need to give their children the best possible start in life—and equally important, to protect and support the health of mothers during this critical window of time, when maternal health thrives, future generations do too.
